Link Internship |
At Animas High School, we have the opportunity to intern any business or organization that will host us. Leading Internships for New Knowledge sends the junior class to intern in any field of our choice. This allows us to explore different career choices. Students can intern with doctors, managers, retailers, you name it; I chose to go to Austin, Texas, to intern the Student Ministries Team at Celebration Church.

Celebration Church |
My internship was at Celebration Church with the Student Ministries. This team works full time to make a connection for Gen Z with Jesus Christ. They serve graciously and with excellence, creating an authentic community for students to open up to other kids and open up to God. Every year they host a student conference called WAVE. Churches and students come from all over to meet God and have an undeniable experience with him. The team works hard to make this conference happen while also hosting Wednesday night services for middle school, high school, and college students every week. They also host WAVE Nights on the first Wednesday of every month to set the theme for the upcoming month.

Preparation and Anticipation 4/13/19
I decided to do my LINK at Celebration Church because I felt God calling on me to serve there. I wanted to do their summer internship program, but it interfered with other travel plans. The summer internship is not full time, you get to serve and learn what it means to serve, but not full-time pastorship. LINK is giving me the opportunity to serve full time and have and create a project for the church. I knew as soon as I decided to do my internship there, I did not want to go anywhere else. I am so excited for this opportunity to serve the Student Ministries team at Celebration Church, and I know God is calling me down there.
Reflection 5/15/19
I would never trade this opportunity for anything in the world! I had so much fun working with the Students Team and restarting my relationship with God. This internship showed me what it means to be a youth pastor, late nights working, meetings all the time, planning events, counseling, and mentoring students. All of this is very exhausting mentally and physically. Though the job is very tough, there is no greater satisfaction than helping kids find Christ and turn their lives around for the better. I am seriously considering attending seminary and becoming a full-time youth pastor, but it's not up to me, it's up to whatever and where ever God wants me to be.

My Project
For my project, I had the opportunity to write a meaningful small group curriculum. This consists of the theme of the message, bible verses, and what they mean, and three personable questions for the students to discuss within their small group of eight kids the same gender and age. This process creates an authentic community, which is what Gen Z craves. This months theme was about God-given gifts and stewarding that gift to build the body of Christ.
